Raksha Bandhan or Rakhi is the festival to express the immaculate love between brother and sister which is celebrated on the full moon of the month of August, which as per Hindu calendar known as “Shravan”. Raksha Bandhan is made out of two words Raksha + Bandhan. That means, a bond which takes the promise of safety. Raksha essentially means “Protection” and Bandhan means “bond”, so it is basically the protection bond between the brother and a sister, where a sister ties Rakhi, a holy thread around her brother’s wrist and takes a vow from him that he will protect her, guard her and guide her for the rest of his life, also the sister prays to God for his protection. However, this bond does not necessarily means that it should have to be between relatives; instead the beautiful thing about this festival is that through tying a Rakhi, a pure brother-sister bond can be created between a girl and a boy who are even biologically unrelated.
